Plan for a Happy New Year

“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”     Oprah Winfrey

After the challenges of 2020, it feels good to say goodbye to the old, and hello to the new year.  Despite the rocky road that still lies ahead, the light at the end of the tunnel is a faint but steady glimmer of hope in the distance as we wait for our chance to receive a vaccine.

Over the holiday you may have connected with your loved ones on zoom, phone calls and even the occasional in-person visits, and you may have noticed that things have changed with the senior in your life.  Perhaps you are a senior yourself and are worried about continuing to live alone as the pandemic drags on.  (If you missed our webinar on signs that your loved one needs help, you can access it here).   Despite the feeling of being “on hold” for the last 8 months, time continues to move forward, and health changes may be making it difficult for you or your loved one to accomplish the activities of daily life.

Life may not return to a “new normal” for several months yet, and if you are asking yourself if this is a good time to make a plan for the future – the answer is YES.   We are all aging, and if we want to “get it right”, we need to consider our goals, our resources, and our options.  The best time to plan is before a crisis, not in the middle of one.

We are not aging alone, and the best strategy to aging well is a team approach.  Your team will include professionals in medical and emotional support, legal issues, financial planners and of course your family and friends.  If you are considering making a change to senior living, there are a wide variety of options available, depending upon your preferences, your health and your resources.  It makes sense to take the time now to do the research, even if you are not planning to move in the next few months.

At Proactive seniors, we help you identify your team and put together your customized plan based upon your goals and wishes.  We have an extensive referral network in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna, and we can save you time, money and stress.   Our motto is Plan Ahead, Live Well and we would be happy to help you do both.
