When the time comes to downsize and relocate to a Retirement Residence or Seniors Care Facility…
… Seniors and their families find it complicated and very time consuming to find the best Seniors Housing solutions
This is not surprising, there are over 200 Seniors Housing options in Calgary and area. We know that finding the right fit is imperative to feeling confident and content about one’s decision to move. Also, it is very important to know that the location of choice has the right level of care, a good match to personality and is comfortable within one’s financial capabilities.
Proactive Seniors Housing consultants help to save families valuable time and a lot of frustration. We have spent years researching and touring all of the Retirement Homes, Care Homes and Lodges in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. A vast amount of detail is collected in our custom database/search engine but beyond that our knowledge of what happens on a day-to-day basis at each facility provides valuable insight to families making important decisions.
Private Pay Retirement Residences
There is a broad range of choice in private retirement living. From Independent Living to Assisted Living, Memory Care even Enhanced or Long Term Care. Calgary is booming with new residences being built every year. The variety of social, recreational and lifestyle amenities offered at these retirement residences is amazing. However, each company and building has its own unique dynamic and it is important to chose the community that best fits a persons needs as well as their personal preferences.
AHS Designated Supportive Living
Our public health care provides for partially funded Supportive Living for seniors who meet the health care requirements. Care levels include Supportive Living level 4, Supportive Living level 4 – Dementia and Long Term Care. The process to be assessed and receive placement (or transfer) is rather complex as there are a large number of options to choose from and long wait lists. Having guidance and being strategic about choices and timing is very helpful in navigating funded seniors housing.
Subsidized Seniors Apartments and Lodges
For low and middle income seniors with minimal health concerns, there are many Affordable Seniors Housing options. There are often significant wait lists and the application process and paper work can be very overwhelming to seniors and their families.
It is ok if you don’t know which category of seniors housing you should be looking in. We often have clients who think they need a private pay facility but through our comprehensive assessment we find they are better suited to funded or subsidized care and the reverse happens as well. Sometimes our strategy might involve an intentional transition from private pay to funded housing so we can best manage time constraints and finances. Our goal is to ensure you have the information you need to make the best decision possible, even if that means staying at home. There is no pressure to move, often our clients are wanting to know their options for future consideration or financial planning purposes.
- Our caring and experienced consultants meet our clients in the comfort of their own home or care facility
